What is the best summer job for an incoming college freshman?

Last year I worked as a lifeguard, but I didn%26#039;t receive enough hours at that job. What are practical alternatives for the summer months. I am smart and capable, and would perhaps like a job that could teach me valuable skills and look good on a resume. The experience alone will give you insight into what you are interested in career wise and it will look great on your resume. Some pay, some don%26#039;t- so whatever you can manage, do. Ninety-nine percent of interns are only available to college students so take advantage while you can!|||Sales positions! It will show communication skills and relationship building skills to employers :) I did a summer with Southwestern Books and I learned a lot about motivating myself and communicating across different socioeconomic families. Well, it depends on where you would work as a waitress. My mom comes home with anywhere between $90 and $125 a night in tips because she works at a dinner theatre that is very large and attracts a lot of tourists. But on the other end of the spectrum, my one friend comes home with anywhere between $40 and $80 in tips a night because she works in a teeny little restaurant that%26#039;s out in the middle of nowhere. But if you find a good place, you%26#039;ll usually be making a decent amount of money.
