What kind of job do I look to realistically obtain after my time in the marines?

I plan on enlisting in the marine corps for 4 years. I%26#039;m wondering what kind of job can I really look to get when I come back. My highest education is a high school diploma and I really don%26#039;t plan on going to college. I%26#039;m an 18 year old, black male. I really want to try and join a newspaper and write articles as a journalist. Is that a realistic job that I can obtain?|||You are too young and inexperienced to be trying to answer your questions immediately. In the corps, you will be exposed to many new people, places and ideas. You may have a totally different perspective on life in just a couple years from now. No doubt you will have many new ideas about what to do.

Your MOS in the corps will have some bearing on what you will be qualified to do when you get out. Unless you are an extraordinary writer and have connections, you will probably not find a job in journalism--a highly competitive field, even for the educated.

You shouldn%26#039;t be hasty deciding you won%26#039;t go to college. The military will provide you with some educational benefits, and your options and wages will be greater with a college education. For now, I suggest you enjoy your time in the corps, look around at what other people are doing, remain curious, and start making decisions in about 2 1/2 or 3 years from now.|||Your dreams are your realistic goals. You have to want them and do what it takes to get them. While your in the military you can take college courses and they will pay. Jump on that and get a start on your long terms goals. You can even take on-line class from overseas!!|||go to a junior college...at least part time. The service or your state should pick up some of the costs.

or contact your local veterans office for suggestions. the government gives priority to veterans...it%26#039;s a law.

need education...so so important. only a few make it without.
